Vanesia Johnson is the founder, chairperson and interim executive director of Tri-State Regional Wellness Center, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit organization serving Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi; founder, chairperson and acting president of Citizens Advocating for Social Equity (C.A.S.E.), a 501c 4 social welfare organization based in Texas; owner of VRJ & Associates, LLC, a group behavioral health practice and consulting firm serving Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi; owner of Club Envy & Company, a for-profit night life and entertainment establishment; owner of Handy World Unlimited, Corp, a for-profit repair and construction company; and owner of Real Estate at Large (REAL) Properties, an investment firm. She also serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Portal Houston, Inc., a 501c3 organization that focuses on female prison re-entry programs and re-integration initiatives. She graduated Salutatorian and Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi Valley State University where she obtained her Bachelor Degree of Social Work in May 1999. She then attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where she obtained her Masters of Social Work in December 2000 with a Concentration in Clinical and Administration. Ms. Johnson has over 18 years of progressive leadership experience in the areas of Corporate Compliance, Performance Improvement, Senior Management, Behavioral Health, Case Management, Clinical Supervision and Community Activism. She is licensed at the highest level of the Social Work profession and has special recognition as a state of Texas Board Approved Clinical Supervisor, University of Houston Field Supervisor, Our Lady of the Lake University San Antonio Field Supervisor, and Arizona State University College of Social Work Field Supervisor. Ms. Johnson has held such positions as Admissions Coordinator at Santa Maria Hostel, Inc., Director of Social Services at Legacy Community Health Services, Chief Operating Officer at Independence Heights Community Health Center, Administration Manager for the City of Houston’s Bureau of HIV/AIDS, STD, and Hepatitis Division, and Compliance and Performance Improvement Officer for Fort Bend Family Health Center. She has an exceptional track record of managing programs funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), Texas Department of Juvenile Justice, Mississippi Department of State Health and other funding sources. She has served on the Houston African American State of Emergency HIV Taskforce, Houston HIV Prevention Community Planning Group, Houston HIV/AIDS Monitoring Project, Independence Heights Development Council, Texas Department of State Health Services Committee for Advising and Planning, Harris Center Mental Health Advisory Committee, and Harris County Dual Systems Youth Steering Committee. She has demonstrated expert level knowledge in Community Assessment, Resource Inventory, Gaps Analysis, Organizational Assessment, Strategic Planning, Clinical Assessment, and behavioral interventions/strategies. She is trained and certified in Critical Incident Stress Management. She is also a Department of Transportation (DOT) Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (Q-SAP). She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., NAACP, National Association of Professional Women, American Society for Public Administration, and lifetime member of the Phi Alpha Social Work Honors Society. She is the proud mother of two triumphant and amazing sons.
